About Me

Welcome to this random page on my website. It’s nice to meet you. I hope everything is going okay that side. I’m going to keep this about me page short and sweet mainly because I’ve been procrastinating this for years and I still don’t know what to write here.

My name is Cassandra Meaker but I go by Cassy, people actually call me that too. I’m originally from South Africa but I’ve been living in the Netherlands since 2017 with my husband and a zoo of animals. I’m a published author with one book to date, 2020, but I’m actually going to attempt to write another book in the near future. I’ve gone through the unending boredom stage to the now okay let’s actually be productive stage in the pandemic so who knows? Other than being an author, I used to write blogs. When I’m not being creative as in writing, drawing and painting – I’m studying. I’m in the long process of getting my degree, something that still feels like a dream. I’m studying to become a nurse and I intend to get my Masters as well while I’m at it. So, that’s basically what I will be doing for the next eight years. Study and maybe write a book here and there.

So, what’s the point of this website? Originally it was a chaotic mixture of blogs, first drafts and one e-book. As of 2020, I’ve made the difficult decision to stop forcing myself to write blogs. The simple truth is that I don’t feel comfortable sharing about my life anymore. There was a time where I got very personal on here and shared all my deepest and darkest thoughts and feelings. It helped me back then, don’t get me wrong. But now I’m in therapy, my mental health has improved and the more I stepped into the ”adult” world, the less I felt the need to share what I used to share with my blogs. I didn’t love the idea of my future coworkers or patients being able to type my name into Google and basically finding my diary. Saying that, I don’t mind that all these personal blogs are still out there in the open. They were apart of the journey and they deserve to still exist. Plus as a wonderful bonus, the occasional personal blog could help someone and that’s always nice. I still however want to share my stories. I’ve been writing since 2008 and it’s one of my truest passions and a way to express myself. I plan to continue sharing this part of me on here. The plan is to have the occasional short story go up and every year and a half have a new e-book go up, naturally with it’s first draft at the beginning. So, June x we have the first draft and then December y, the e-book (that’s for sale by the way). In the perfect world I would have a new short story go up every four months or so. This isn’t super realistic but we will see.

So yeah. That’s about it. I told you I was going to keep this one short but sweet. If you have any questions or you just want to chat, please never hestitate to reach out. You can either contact me via the get in touch tab or by emailing me on cassandra@butterflyfingers.com
