What on earth is a first draft, absolutely no one asked. As I need some type of introduction to this page, I will go ahead and explain what it means to me. It is the first draft of the story. It’s exactly as it comes out of mind in the moment and the story in it’s purest form. It riddled with plot-holes, jump scenes and typo’s but it’s the first life of the book and to me it’s the most important part. It gives the story it’s essence. The reason why I share this glance into my mind and infant story is for the story itself. When I originally started sharing my writing online, all the books I decided to share on Wattpad were first drafts. By doing this, I was able to get constructive feedback on how to improve the story and most importantly, allow the story to find it’s little spot in the library so to say. It’s such an important step because it allows me to take a step back, outside of the world I had just created and away from the characters I’ve grown to love, and inspect the book from a different perspective. This allows me to improve as a writer and it ultimately makes the story even better than anything I could’ve created by myself. I share the first draft so the final version can be the best possible version of the story.
Ultimately the majority of the first drafts I will share on here will be released at a later date in the form of an e-book available for purchase. There will probably be the occasional first draft that will remain as just that, or a first draft that doesn’t quite get the ending it deserves, but that’s all part of the process.
